Luis Soriano, aka El Biblioburro, a Spanish teacher in rural La Gloria Colombia. Concerned that his students had no access to books at home, he decided to do something about it.
Our Impact

Stories That Travel Far

Every book we donate carries more than words—it carries hope, curiosity, cultural pride, and the opportunity to see the world through new eyes.

Our Reach

Where our books travel

Together with teachers, schools, NGOs, community leaders, and our Dragonfly Ambassadors, we bring bilingual books and educational resources to remote communities around the globe. Click here to explore the communities and organizations our books have reached.

From Indigenous villages and island schools to rural classrooms and conservation projects, our mission is helping children discover a bigger world—one story at a time.

From the Field

Voices from our partners.

“Thanks to our alliance with Little Explorer, Big World™, we were able to deliver hundreds of books to the Public and School Libraries of Cali in neighborhoods with the most vulnerable population, and in the rural libraries of Valle del Cauca, in places recognized worldwide for bird watching in Colombia.”

Maria Elisa Holguin

Executive Director, Bibliotec Foundation

“Little Explorer, Big World™ has set a standard in pedagogy and didactics for teaching bird watching to children in Tolima. It has had a great impact since the 2019 Tolima Bird Festival as a strategy for children to learn in a fun way and fall in love with birds and their care. Great support received by Kike Calvo for this part of Colombia.”

Matilde Antia Ruiz

Specialized Professional, Subdirectorate of Natural Resources Administration

“Little Explorer, Big World™ has helped us strengthen our environmental conservation work in the rural areas of the municipality of Jamundí in Valle del Cauca, facilitating educational processes with children for the conservation of birds in their territories.”

Maria del Rosario Cortes Mejía

Foundation Reserva Natural Bonanza

“We feel very proud to make children happy, providing teachers with a tool for the growth of our children and adolescents. This would not be possible without Kike Calvo, who donated us books for the Municipality of Planadas.”

Eduar Aviles

Berlín Natural Reserve, Planadas, Colombia — Association of Young People Committed to the Environment

“I just opened the box of books yesterday! They are wonderful; thank you so very much! I have placed a few on our inpatient library shelf and I’m sure they will be a hit!”

Nicole Perez, MA, CCLS

Coordinator of Child Life Services, NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst

Communities We Reach

Where Our Books Make an Impact

Our journey began in 2015 with the publication of Kikeo & the Whale, our first book . Since 2019, Little Explorer, Big World™ has worked with schools, libraries, nonprofit organizations, Indigenous communities, conservation initiatives, and local partners to place bilingual and multilingual books in the hands of children and families around the world.

Many of these relationships continue year after year, reflecting our belief that meaningful impact grows through long-term partnerships, local collaboration, and access to stories in the languages of the heart.

Below are the communities, institutions, and organizations that have received or helped distribute our educational materials.

From Indigenous villages and island schools to rural classrooms and conservation projects, our mission is helping children discover a bigger world—one story at a time.

Our reach continues to grow. This list is currently being updated.
